The Framework for Civil 3D supports Adaptive Layer Standards in many releases of Civil 3D. That means you can produce project work in one official and compliant Layer Standard - maybe the NCS 6.0 and still produce deliverables in perhaps another Layer Standard like the NCS 6.0 AIA standard.

These days the Framework for Civil 3D products are STB and CTB agnostic. Civil 3D doesn’t care. Why should the Framework? That was the big deal when Release 7 of the Framework first came out. Lordy, I hate to employ that BIM word because everyone wants to turn a bright idea into something shiny and new to sell you. Basically, if it’s new it must be BIM.
