For good reasons Autodesk Civil 3D doesn’t police whether we pile a bunch of Civil 3D Features into a single drawing and then design, QAQC, and publish that way. Civil 3D doesn’t care. We manage this Civil 3D reality or not. In the real world, most of us are unlikely to work on a project that requires only a single drawing. We do not work in a world where civil engineering and survey…

It would be safe to say that our Framework for Civil 3D products employ and create a lot of the common and more popular standards in the US marketplace for Autodesk Civil 3D. As they say - a large part of success is just surviving and staying around. Focus and practice can also be a good thing. These have a dark side as we shall see.
The people who manage…

Whether or not we choose to employ Styleless Data References in our Civil 3Dprojects is a business decision that deserves some careful consideration. There are Civil 3D technical, stability, and project performance reasons to take the time to do so.
For the most part the NoStyles workflow mechanics are mindlessly simple to execute. In the context of most…

We previously discussed the challenges that surround the formal data Dependencies that play an integral role our daily production work inside Autodesk Civil 3D. It is safe to say that we learn to manage Dependencies, or the Dependencies control us.
Put another way – we employ Civil 3D to produce managed projects of data references and those…

For reasons that deserve explanation, Autodesk Civil 3D includes some apparent contradictions. There are formal sets of dualities built into Civil 3D. Whether we perceive and/or employ these model-based software pairings for our benefit is another matter. Sadly, every Civil 3D user struggles with these dualities to one degree or another.
Frankly, it’s even a bit difficult…
