What makes me shudder are the rash of upcoming vision metaphors for anything related to 2020. Want to bet Autodesk marketing does it? Can you imagine the 2020 political campaign ads? Want to count the blind leading the blind allegories? If they get us focused on the count, we won’t notice how they play Three Card Monte. Hardly anyone will be able to resist. Eheh.
We are soon to be bombarded…

Civil 3D Corridors become ever more useful for Site Design tasks. If we insist that our old school CAD perceptions of the civil engineering design issues and workflows are correct, in effect, we believe that our old AutoCAD habits and skills are more important than any new Civil 3D skills and the ever-increasing capabilities of Civil 3D itself. This is us being human. This is just…

Folk complain that Civil 3D is not really user-friendly for Site Design. This is bunk. The complaint is true only if you insist that site design in Civil 3D should be like it was for years in old school CAD software. We insist our AutoCAD skills are more important than new Civil 3D skills and capabilities. About the only thing Civil 3D has in common with that old software is Civil 3D’s use of similar…

The Civil 3D Subassembly Composer allows us to construct our own customized Subassemblies for use in our Corridor Assemblies. Autodesk has released a number of really useful PKT files over the last few releases of Civil 3D. Sadly, some folks don’t bother to test and employ them. Others do.

Last time we explored some basic iPOD (Intelligent Publish on Demand) workflow mechanics to help us deal with the annotation of Corridor models. We previewed that in a video to show the Civil 3D mechanics of how we can create Corridor Station…
