In the last couple of weeks a recent and necessary security fix for the Microsoft Net Framework seems to have savaged the AutoCAD Civil 3D Survey Query Import and Export a file behaviors. Code that was stable and worked great for the last couple of years and multiple AutoCAD Civil 3D releases suddenly stopped working as advertised.

Not so long ago I did a post and video called Civil 3D Survey Got Better. That included a brief section that employed the concept and use of a standard Survey Queries to optimize survey production tasks in Civil 3D. The goal there was to construct a quick and dynamic surface from nascent and unedited figures.
Over the years I’ve seen a lot of survey projects literally from the North Slope to Key West and points beyond. This entails getting my head around how a firm gathers, QAs, and publishes data without any of the normal context the doers have.
