We shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel to employ Civil 3D point data successfully. After more than ten releases of Civil 3D that would be dumb. The Pareto Principal, that famous 80 20 Rule, applies to our civil engineering and survey data. I argue, and most civil and survey folk would agree, that 20% of what we gather and create drives a large part of our project…Read more

Meanwhile that same audience is actually completely baffled. This is a pretty common symptom of ED - Expert’s Disease. Oops, that didn’t come out exactly as I intended. You do get what I mean.

We wrapped up a previous post about the interpreted nature of point data in AutoCAD Civil 3D and the Civil 3D Point Display Priority Strategy with an argument that the Pareto principal, the famous 80 20 Rule, applies to our civil engineering…Read more
Are Points are one of those “I love to hate them” beasties in AutoCAD Civil 3D? I say it often and loudly that the performance of Civil 3D COGO points sucks. Best to employ them thoughtfully. On the other hand, Civil 3D Survey points can rock your socks off. There are a whole bunch of videos that show that here.
