Autodesk crammed the release of many new updates to the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 Extensions into the month of August this year. Forgive me. No one could post about all of them in a month. The Labor Day weekend gave me time to catch up.
If you’ve been following the Autodesk Infraworks webinars you’ve already seen one or more of them in action. See all of what you may have missed on our constantly updated Infraworks page in the Civil Web Training collection of training videos. Great Civil 3D training stuff in there too. Who knew?
Autodesk in the Family Way
Autodesk released Better Bridges integration for Civil 3D, Revit, and Infraworks 360 in early August. This was certainly done for the new AEC Infrastructure Collection. There is more than one Extension to more than one software involved. Oh, my. See this News post.

Autodesk and Keynetix also released a new update to the Geotechnical Module for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 in the beginning of the month.
What is Geotechnical in Civil 3D?
Current Autodesk and Keynetix technology can transform the way subsurface and geology data is managed and visualized in Civil 3D. Apply BIM principles and employ the correct tools and the subsurface(s) can be modelled and visualized in a fraction of the normal time.
This way cool integration of MS SQL databases with Civil 3D is definitely worth a look see. Almost makes me lust to write SQL integration code again.
Gary Morin of Keynetix LTD did this webinar with the Autodesk Partner, Microsol Resources in early August. If you want to see what the Extension is about watch the first 2-3 minutes.
The latest Civil 3D templates and styles from the Release 7 Framework for Civil 3D include new CTB templates that now support Geotechnical without a hitch.
OK. You may want to play around with the Layer defaults assignments in Geotechnical a bit. Easy to do.
The latest CTB templates will also help you integrate the Civil 3D Roundabout Feature as well.
