Autodesk recently released the usual Earth, Water, and the other Interop extensions for Autodesk Civil 3D 2020. Can we say the usual suspects? I guess Wind and Fire might not be Autodesk classified as civil extensions. Funny, we have both wind farm and LNG farm Framework for Civil 3D customers performing both survey and civil engineering project work all over the US and other places.
The release of the Geotechnical and River and Flood Analysis extensions or modules is usually a pretty good clue that a Civil 3D 2020.1 Update is coming soon. The Framework for Civil 3D 2020.1 Update will be ready.
The Framework Delivers the Freedom to Update and Work
Still using Civil 3D 2019.3 or Civil 3D 2018.3? No problem.
There are recent Framework for Civil 3D 2019.3 updates and older Framework for Civil 3D 2018.3 updates available. By design project work performed with the Framework for Civil 3D tools is easier to update and easier to upgrade.

Our Release 8 Framework for Civil 3D Jump Kit Style libraries work in Civil 3D 2020, Civil 3D 2019.3 and Civil 3D 2018.3. You don’t get the more user-friendly functionality in Civil 3D 2020, but the Civil 3D Style Tools are supported, and they work. Need to work or produce deliverables in DOD, AIA, NCS or other standards and variants? DGN? We do that too.
The Framework for Civil 3D is adaptive, consistent, and robust. Speaking of extending Civil 3D…
First the dirt and then the stream.

Autodesk River and Flood Analysis 2020
The Autodesk River & Flood Analysis Module is a sophisticated river modeling software package that supported HEC-RAS within the Autodesk Civil 3D environment. The Autodesk River & Flood Analysis module makes it easier than ever before to compute water surface profiles for modeling rivers, bridges, culverts, spillways, levees, floodplain and floodway delineations, stream diversions, channel improvements, and split flows.
The Autodesk River and Flood Analysis 2020 for Civil 3D 2020 consists of the following features:
- Automate HEC-RAS cross section cutting, water surface analysis, flood plain mapping, and all related modeling tasks.
- Utilize numerous automation mapping tools for extracting cross sections from various digital terrain sources including contours, TINs, DTMs, DEMs, LiDAR data, survey files, surveyed cross sections, etc.
- Perform sophisticated bridge and culvert analysis as well as automating the process of designing and analyzing roadway crossings.
- Automate mapping of bank station locations, channel and overland flow lengths, levee locations, ineffective flow areas, Manning’s roughness data from topographic map data.
- Perform automated bridge scour computations for FHWA and state DOT roadway studies.
- Automatically generate floodplain and floodway maps, ready for FEMA and other agency submittals.

Autodesk MicroDrainage Utility 2020
The Autodesk MicroDrainage Utility provides the ability for Autodesk Civil 3D Pipe Networks to be renamed and exported to MDX/SWS/FWS format for analysis within the MicroDrainage System 1 drainage design module and then imported to update the pipe network in Autodesk Civil 3D to create a 3D model of drainage network as well as product plans, sections and pipe and structure schedules.
The Autodesk MicroDrainage Utility 2020 for Civil 3D 2020 consists of the following features:
- Utility to aid the renaming of the pipe network to WinDes naming convention
- Export pipe network to SWS and FWS file format
- Import and update existing network from SWS/FWS
- Prefix and suffix to pipe naming
- Change pipe network style
Note: This MicroDrainage Utility does not support the round tripping of data since any data generated by WinDes is not maintained. The export is a clean file of the pipe network only. The more recent versions of WinDes also still support this core format.

Autodesk Import-Export Extension for GENIO 2020
The Autodesk Import-Export Extension for GENIO streamlines the migration of data from Bentley MXROAD software to Autodesk Civil 3D software. It also enables customers to use Autodesk Civil 3D on projects that require Bentley MXROAD format deliverables and/or the use GENIO orbinary "modelfile" format as data sources.
The Autodesk Import-Export Extension for GENIO 2020 for Civil 3D 2020 include the following key features:
- Import Bentley MXROAD alignments, profiles, surfaces, points and feature strings into Civil 3D
- Export Civil 3D model elements including points, alignments, profiles, corridor feature lines, and grading feature lines into the Bentley MXROAD format.
