Right now, it is pretty hard to miss that the Autodesk rebranding campaign for the Autodesk 2023 products is already afoot. Do we call the new Autodesk branding Back to the Black or just the Bird? Obviously, Autodesk started the official marketing rebrand campaign last fall. This spring it hits our desktops.
Autodesk officially turned 40 this January. Personally, that is more than a bit scary. I remember when rock was young.
I must ask,
“Do software companies experience mid-life crisis?” Is black leather a meme or a statement? Eheh.
Sooner, rather than later, your Autodesk Desktop App will go back to the black. Funny. On some of my machines it already has. Others like yellow and blue Ukrainian freedom fighters continue to resist. Must be a Windows thing.
At the end of February, Autodesk begins to release Autodesk 2023 product preparation products.
Yeah. They do that.
Best we pay attention.
"I read the news today. Oh, Boy."
For those of us in Civil 3D Land recognize that you may not see all of these until your Autodesk Desktop App goes back to black.
Grading Optimization for Civil 3D 2022.2.1 Hotfix
Autodesk Grading Optimization (GO) is an interactive tool that facilitates grading various land areas.
GO consists of optimization algorithms that work toward surface smoothness while accommodating user-imposed constraints.
GO requires access to an Autodesk AEC Collection license.
The important Hotfix fixes an issue in which earthwork quantity balancing fails to produce the desired value when the depth of materials for zones and building pads were set to a value other than zero.

Geotechnical Module for Civil 3D 2020-2021
The Autodesk Geotechnical Modeler provides a suite of tools to visualize, process, analyze and export geotechnical data directly within the Civil 3D environment for use in a variety of civil engineering design projects.
The product supplies Civil 3D 2020 and Civil 3D 2021 backwards compatibility support for the Geotechnical Modeler Extension 2022 released earlier.

AutoCAD 2022.1.2 Update
For most of us in Civil 3D Land this seemingly minor ACAD Update significantly delivers multi-core performance improvements to background publish tasks.
Time will tell whether we can Count or bank on that. Eheh.
See the AutoCAD 2022.1.2 Update news item.
Autodesk is probably more concerned with vital Autodesk Docs fundamentals like Sheet Sets that publish. Dooh.
Autodesk Desktop Connector 15.4 Update
This Autodesk Cloud Update integrates the prep technologies for the aforementioned Autodesk Docs and publishing issues.
The ADC Update also fixes some annoying Office integration issues.
How cute, creative, and innovative…
The new ADC tray logo is a gray D button. Dooh.

Needless to say, Autodesk wants the upcoming 2023 release products to install and function as advertised. An event requires a front man who can perform.
Autodesk Licensing Service 12.0.1.5 Update
If we miss these sneaky ALS updates, sooner or later we get to pound our face on the keyboard.
Got my tee shirt. You too?
ALS can be crippling. Eheh.
More automatic fixes to install and licensing issues can be a big deal.
