No matter how we cut it, this hot week in July 2024 will be remembered as an important week in world history. We all know that last Saturday someone tried to kill a presidential candidate on live tv. That event produced an iconic photograph of the 45th President rising up amongst a protective herd of Secret Service agents with blood on his face and his fist raised. He encouraged the stunned audience at his political rally to fight. Whoa.
I don’t have to post the picture.
The famous photo of Donald Trump is already burned into everyone’s head.
Did I hear it right that the photographer works for the New York Times?
There’s another Columbia University Pulitzer in there for sure.
Ok. Maybe not. Wrong subject.
Can you hear me laughing?
Every Picture Tells a Story
Meanwhile in the middle of the Republican National Convention the powers behind the scenes in the Democrat party attempt to replace their current and elected Presidential candidate before their own convention because now they might lose all the other close downstream elections?
Say what?
Apparently, the BiDim now once again has Covid.
He has retreated once again to his basement - maybe this time it’s his fortified beach house in Delaware.
Can you hear me laughing?
Long ago and far away I attended a similar political rally the day before RFK was assassinated in LA. I can honestly say that early June day changed my personal life forever. I was forced to ask myself difficult political questions. I seriously considered some spiritual realities that a high school kid usually does not.
It is more than unnerving to shake a man’s hand one day and learn that he is dead the next.
Some of you may recall, that this year I had my own very personal brush with death.
Shout!
Trust me. I was never in any condition to hop up and shout anything at anyone. I can only lie there in a hospital hallway and wonder what the hell is happening. All the teams of kind professional folks who come to see me are obviously nervous. Everyone is truly evasive when I ask any question.
Last fall I had a bleed on the outside surface of my brain. I found out later that a huge percentage of people simply drop dead in the first 4 hours from this. A large group does not make it 4 days. A healthy and fit 30+ year old woman had died in the same great trauma center hospital only a month before. The folks were nervous.
You know you are in serious trouble when you can see the doctors are more worried about what the lawyers might say later than what’s wrong with you. I cannot blame them for this. Been there with the whole lawyer and what the hell is happening thing. Got my tee shirt.
God blessed me. I survived. Did a two-week sleepless stay in the hospital and more tests and needle pokes than anyone wants to count.
I stood up and walked away with only the headache from hell for a month.
Certainly, I am not the same. Yet I could not tell you exactly what is different. Like many things God does with us, it remains a work in progress. I do not get up each morning for the same reasons. I do not do many of the same old things. Life is good. God is good.
Ok. Thankfully, this time around no one tried to shoot me for my expressed political views.
It does appear true on multiple occasions in the past that Google suppressed some of my posts in this blog for absurd political reasons.
I sort of wonder if the current Google AI will catch the BiDim reference above?
I bet not…
