Out here in Civil 3D Land it is full bake summer. It is hot and sweaty. Just like my terror dogs, I find myself wanting to lay down on the cool floor and maybe nap and doze most of the day. No rest for the wicked. In this heat, I gotta rise up earlier to walk my daily constitutional. I certainly have less company out there. Hardly a soul in sight at the crack of dawn.
This infernal weather reminds me of the historical fact that way back when the imaginative founders of our country intentionally built the capital, Washington DC, in basically what was an uninhabitable swamp in the summertime.
Say what? It’s true. It’s true.
Summertime
Most don’t recognize that other countries and many of our United States picked the location of their capital cities for exactly the same reason. Let’s see? Should it be San Francisco or Sacramento? Actually, California once tested out Vallejo but that wasn’t far enough away from the center of the action or really unpleasant enough. In 1850’s Sacramento was a swamp that flooded every year.
The most fearful thing imaginable to the folks was a government that didn’t adjourn for more than half of the year. God forbid, the politicians might come up with new dangerous laws or ways to raise taxes. Eheh.
It’s True
One can safely argue that the post war 20th century development of central air conditioning condemned us all to more invasive, government bureaucracies at every level.
The Better Green New Deal
A better and far more sustainable Green New Deal proposal would be simply to:
Defund the AC in DC!
I know. It’s a great idea. Don’t hold your breath.

Autodesk Revit 2025.2 Update
Like they say the combination of this early June’s Autodesk Revit 2025.1 Update and this late July’s Autodesk Revit 2025.2 Update some say makes for a whole new Revit 2025.
To quote in summary:
“New June and July releases for Autodesk Revit combine to offer over 60 stability, performance, and model quality improvements, along with several community requested ideas, like area wall joins, quick alignment of annotations for keynotes and text, and an upgrade for PDF export that allows it to run in the background.
There are also now tabs for the project browser, a longstanding request with more than 1,000 votes from the Community. This subtle but useful addition will allow you to navigate Revit more easily, with less scrolling and collapsing required to find the window you need.
You will also notice a more streamlined and personalized Revit Home in Revit 2025.2. Newly graduated from Tech Preview, the new Revit Home offers a more finely tuned way to search, open, filter, and sort your projects and models, while modernizing the experience of getting down to work in Revit. With more intuitive access to linked and shared data in the cloud, along with insights about the way you work, and tips for getting the most out of Revit: the new Revit Home delivers an assist for when you need to start fast and stay organized!”
See the official Autodesk Revit 2025.2 Is Now Available post. They say it includes a couple of sexy videos.
OK. Maybe you must be a structural engineer to call them sexy. Eheh.
