This year’s mid-week Christmas and New Years Day are a bit weird. We’d all probably prefer that our Christmas holidays were in the beginning or at the end of the week in the last month of yet another year.

Most of us do enjoy longer weekends and all of that.

No matter what, time washes away all too quickly for most of us.

Ok. As kids we all remember that Christmas always took forever to arrive.
Then it did. Christmas was gone in a flash.
Once again we were waiting for the special day one more time. Eheh.

In Between Christmas and New Years

Ok. As fathers, many of us wonder how to pay for the whole thing. I can hear myself, “Please, don’t get me anything.” This year my kids tell me that my presents are in the mail and it may arrive before New Years Day.

As mothers, some wonder did we really get the right things for everyone. Husbands seem to hear about that until New Years Day. Eheh.

Those around me have never been into the after Christmas Day shopping thing. For some folks in some places, the post-Christmas shop-til-you-drop thing is a really big deal. Women and men will get up early just to wait in line. Once upon a time this was even a bigger deal than it appears to be these days.

Did We Miss Something?

Oh. Yeah. Bidenomics.

The folks who can always manage to shop some more get lucky in years like this one. There’s a couple of weekdays left before there’s a Saturday.

Me? I want to go nowhere.

“He’s a real nowhere man living in a nowhere land.”

According to Google Maps there’s lots of holiday traffic out there.

Weird. Must be Once a Generation Thing

This year the city is repairing the gutters and sidewalks in our neighborhood. This week they started in on our street. Between 7:00am and 3:40pm it is pretty tough to go anywhere.

The suburban repair does make my daily constitutional walks a bit more interesting. It is much more fun hopping the ditches, dodging the back hoes, and dancing around dump trucks.
The neighborhood dogs seem to bark less too. They probably cannot hear themselves think on the day after Christmas this year.

Trust me. The repair work and repaving of our street certainly won’t be done by New Years Day.

There are signs that are everywhere that state clearly the work will be done before Thanksgiving. Wishful thinking?
Got it. Someone was running for something.
Maybe they mean next year?

We live in a city in the state California after all.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
