How many Civil 3D Project drawings can we balance on the head of a pin? How do we migrate our local Civil 3D project into the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)? Why would we want to do that? Some questions are important. Others are not.

At AU 2025 Autodesk showed off a new and improved Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) in more than a few public sessions. We also learned of new Autodesk Docs benefits that are now available for stand-alone license users for the major Autodesk platform applications including Autodesk Civil 3D.
See the recent A Better Desktop Connector post for some of the details.

Autodesk Cloud Migration Tools

Autodesk has been working hard at the core performance metrics of the Autodesk Desktop Connector (ADC) for the ACC and Docs. In case you didn’t notice, the work on the latest version of the ADC shows. Maybe you want to start a pilot or sample Civil 3D project to sort things out?

Let’s face facts. Most of us will not want to build our first or maybe any project in the Autodesk Cloud from scratch. Yuck.
Don’t we already have plenty of local Civil 3D projects?
Don’t we have Civil 3D Project Templates we need to employ?

Hey. Don’t we have local projects that could do with a project integrity check?
The Reference Explorer Tool available in the ADC is a big help, but most real-world Civil 3D projects tend to generate lots of drawings and many file References as we putter along.
Ok. Maybe Civil 3D Project Reference issues never happen to us?

We know by now that a one at a time tool like the Reference Explorer without any automatic fixes is, by definition, tedious. Tedious ditch digging sucks.

Autodesk has tried to fix that…

DWG Integrity and Migration for Docs

The previous version of DWG Migration for Docs tool is now renamed to DWG Integrity and Migration for Docs (DIM).

The 3.0 version of Autodesk DWG Integrity and Migration for Docs helps users efficiently upload local project data to the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), specifically for Civil 3D and AutoCAD collaboration workflows. The app manages the entire migration process: the tool checks for file data integrity issues, helps us to them, and then employs the Autodesk Desktop Connector (ADC) to upload the files.

The new version offers Single Sign-On (SSO), a new installer, and support for long file paths.

Key improvements include the ability to export a Reference Relationship JSON file for reliable uploads and enhanced filtering options.

The app employs Autodesk Desktop Connector (ADC) and the Autodesk Bulk Upload Tool functionality to upload the project data from the local storage location to the cloud.

The New DIM

Did we mention that the new standalone DIM tool also features significant performance upgrades, delivering faster data integrity scans and a more responsive interface. Yum.

Yes. The DIM app can be effectively employed to check the integrity of local Civil 3D projects too. Whether we accept the proposed automatic fixes is up to us. Hoorah.

See the recent  DWG Integrity and Migration for Docs News post for more details.
There are a lot of goodies.

The DIM Tool supports multiple releases of Civil 3D.
See the updated Autodesk Online Help page for easy access to the Autodesk Civil 3D DIM help file links for any release back to Civil 3D 2023.

See the recent AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility News post for how to super clean local, network, and cloud-hosted .dwg files.

The Learn and Burn

The new DIM has a new and improved wizard-like interface.

Maybe it might be a good idea to remember to download the DWG Integrity and Migration for Docs tool, the Bulk Upload Tool, read the online help, install them, and give the new DIM Toolset a test drive or two.
