Autodesk Labs releases a technology preview of new surface modeling tools for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012.
The Interactive Terrain Shaping technology preview is now available from Autodesk Labs.
Interactive Terrain Shaping provides users with a unique workflow for developing grading proposals in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012.
The primary goal of technology effort is to provide a holistic approach to terrain shaping that allows users to go from concept to completion using the same model. The intent is to facilitate the development of comprehensive grading plans that can be revised throughout the project.
The technology preview has capabilities for:
Parking lots
Berms
Swale
Ponds
Spillways
Fills (standard, bounded, and custom)
Cuts (bounded and custom)
The new ITS workflow includes:
1.Purpose-built grading operations that interact with other grading objects
2.Control over grading hierarchy and operations
3.Direct analytical feedback including earthwork and stage-storage volumes
4.Extraction of solids and Civil 3D grid surfaces
Support for AutoCAD Map 3D® 2012 software is planned for a future update of the technology preview!
