The AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility is available via the Autodesk Access App or via download from the Autodesk subscription site.

The AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility Plug In requires access to the original AutoCAD install resources.

The AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility is only available for the AutoCAD 2026, AutoCAD 2025 and AutoCAD 2024 releases.

The official release date of the AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility is Oct 14, 2025.

The Drawing Cleanup Utility should not be confused with the Drawing Cleanup Tools included in Map 3D and Civil 3D.

AutoCAD Drawing Cleanup Utility

Autodesk Drawing Cleanup Utility for AutoCAD is a standalone desktop app that aims to automate the process of cleaning and optimizing AutoCAD drawing files (DWG, DXF).

In addition to local or network hosted files the Drawing Cleanup Utility will clean DWG and DXF files in Autodesk Docs, Autodesk Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Dropbox

This standalone Cleanup Utility performs a more detailed and expansive version of PURGE and can produce an Excel report on a single .dwg or .dxf file.

The Cleanup Utility does not remove XREFs.
It is recommended to clean all XREF drawings before cleaning the host drawings.

When Drawing Scales is checked for cleaning, all unused Drawing Scales in the drawing will be purged. Unlike desktop AutoCAD, the default list of Drawing Scales will not be added back to the drawing.

It is recommended that the AUDIT command is run prior to the Cleanup Utility.
