Clash Detective

The Clash Detective tool has been redesigned and now has an improved user interface including new icons, and contains two new features (NW-62071, NW-67072).

• Drag clash tests in the Tests list to reorder or move them (NW-16579).
• Create folders in the Tests list of the Clash Detective window to group and organize related clash tests (NW-61071 and NW-62073).
• When deleting single or multiple clash tests, a confirmation dialog is now shown (NW-61429).
• Clash reports can now display the date and time values in UTC or the local timezone (NW-62026).
• The Results window has been redesigned and now contains a single right panel containing the Items, Details, and Display settings (NW-62074 and NW-62075).
• A Clear Quick Filter button displayed above the Tests list when filters are applied. Use it to quickly remove the applied filters (NW-62137).
• Clash test default assignee and priority fields are now respected when exported as an XML (NW-62138).
• Select multiple clashes in the Results window and use the Rename dialog to apply a naming format to the whole selection (NW-62158).
• Filtering clash test columns in the Clash Detective window > Tests list has been improved (NW-62366).
• Create multiple clash tests at once (NW-37312, NW-62159, and NW-62388).
• Use Ctrl or Shift+Click to select multiple clash tests, for example when organizing into folders (NW-62195).
• The Clash Grouping dialog now restores to its previous state when reopened in a new session (NW-62209).
• When working with clash rules, selecting a folder containing clash tests will apply the rules to all tests in the folder (NW-62574).
• When a clash test has been run successfully, the Results window is opened automatically to display the results (NW-62520).
• It is now possible to right-click a folder containing multiple clash tests and select Run to run all the contained tests (NW-62297).
• The options for grouping clashes have been combined into a single drop-down list (NW-62298).

Appearance Profiler and Autodesk Rendering

• There is now a refresh button on the Appearance Profiler dialog, which can be used to reload profiles after making updates (NW-61984).
• Reorder selectors using the arrows or Shift+Click in the Profile Rules area of the Appearance Profiler dialog (NW-61988 and NW-62207).
• When you test a rule or apply a profile, an informational message is shown in the footer of the Appearance Profiler dialog, showing the number of affected items (NW-61421).
• A Visibility drop-down list that you can use when creating appearance profile rules. Choose between Hidden, Unchanged, and Shown to determine the visibility of the selected objects in the model. (NW-62254).
• The Visibility drop-down list > Hidden option allows you to hide objects as part of a rule (NW-61997).
• Click any point on the Transparency slider in the Appearance Profiler dialog to move directly to that point, instead of gradually increasing or decreasing the transparency (NW-62318).
• The color that is applied to selected objects based on an appearance profile rule is now editable in the Appearance Profiler dialog box > Profile Rules area (NW-62365).
• Create appearance profiles by importing XML files alongside DAT files (NW-62390).
• Use Ctrl or Shift+Click to select and delete multiple lights in the Autodesk Rendering window > Lighting tab (NW-62190).
• Toggle multiple selected lights on or off using the spacebar or the checkbox at the top of the list (NW-62342).

User Interface and Experience

• Improved the performance associated with loading large or complex NWD files into Assemble (NW-62290).
• The Tilt window has been removed. Tilt can still be applied using the Edit Viewpoint dialog box, and using the mouse scroll wheel in Walk mode (NW-59918).
• The Sets and Saved Viewpoints windows now have an edit mode, which allows sets and viewpoints to be selected without becoming activated in the Scene View and Selection Tree (NW-61241).
• The Navisworks user interface has been updated with new icons in the ribbon and some dialogs (NW-61452 and NW-62070).
• Color pickers now use RGB values by default (NW-61977).
• Custom colors in color pickers are now saved between sessions (NW-61978).
• All search/selection categories now appear in the Find Items dialog, and the Clash Detective window during clash test creation and editing, at all times (NW-62118).
• A new Customize Quick Access Toolbar dialog box, making the process of adding, removing, and reorganizing the Quick Access Toolbar easier (NW-62619).
• The Quick Access Toolbar now includes a Reset option to return it to its default state (NW-62668).
• The thickness setting on the Review tab > Markup Tools panel is now remembered between sessions (NW-62682).
• There is now a contextual help button on the Export to NWD dialog (NW-61961).

Command Line

• A new -ExportNWD command line switch option to export files to an NWD format (NW-60884).
• A new -Publish command line switch option to export an NWD with the settings from the Publish Dialog box (NW-60013).
• A -help option has been added, which launches help for using command line switches (NW-12475).
• The NWCOUT command now works as expected even when the export file path exceeds 132 characters (NW-62462).

Options Editor Dialog Box

• The Options Editor dialog box now has a search option to help you find the required settings more easily (NW-62229).
• A new Options Editor dialog box > General node > Logging page which contains settings related to generating and saving log files for troubleshooting (NW-62654).
• When exporting a Revit file as an NWC, the Options Editor dialog box > File Readers node > Revit page > Export Viewpoints option allows you to include or exclude viewpoints. When this option is deselected, the resulting NWC file won't contain any viewpoints converted from 3D Revit views (NW-61396).
• Multiple system path property names can be specified by using the semicolon character to separate the names on the Options Editor dialog box > File Readers node > VUE page (NW-62634).

3Dconnexion SpaceMouse

Several improvements have been made in relation to using 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse devices with Navisworks (NW-62104), including the following:

• Improved the sensitivity with which the joystick responds when moved in Navisworks (NW-62204).
• The fit button now fits only the active selection to the view instead of the whole model (NW-62205).
• The navigation speed is now slower (NW-62206).
• Support for auto pivot point when using a SpaceMouse. When a whole model is in view, the pivot is the center of the model. When a model is partially in view, the pivot is the closest point of the model to the center of the screen (NW-62294).
• The ISO1 and ISO2 buttons now work as expected, transforming the view into a fixed direction, orthographic view with the selected item framed (NW-62295).
• SpaceMouse devices are now controlled by the 3DxWare driver rather than as part of Navisworks. As a result, the Options Editor dialog box > Interface node > 3Dconnexion page has been removed. You can install the driver from https://3dconnexion.com/uk/software/ (NW-62380).
• Improved the number of Navisworks commands available for use with SpaceMouse (NW-62617).
• QuickZoom functionality has now been implemented in SpaceMouse, to zoom and center the model below the mouse cursor (NW-62618).

Properties

• In the Properties window, any differences between the properties are highlighted in the window (NW-60209).
• Editing a custom property in the Properties window has been improved, making it easier to edit values (NW-61356).
• Use the right click > Create Search Set option in the Properties window, a suggested name is now recommended for the search set based on the search criteria (NW-61422).

Plug-Ins and Extensions

• The Scripter and Animator plug-ins are no longer treated as legacy plug-ins, avoiding unexpected product closures when opening Navisworks (NW-62106).

Supported File Formats

• Support for an NWL file format, a simple text file that can be used to load a list of files (NW-1062).
• Support for CATIA V6 files including the 3DXML format (NW-62513).
• Support for the import of USD files (NW-61551).
