The Autodesk Revit 2024.1 Update is available via the Autodesk Access or via download from the Autodesk subscription site.

Autodesk Revit 2024.1 Update

The Revit 2024 updates are cumulative and include all changes from previously released Revit 2024 updates.

This update addresses customer reported issues and product instabilities.

Enhancements

Area Plans

• Added the Apply Area Rules setting to the Revit.ini file so that users can define the default value to support their preferred workflow.

Coordination Model

• Improved performance when activating Revit views which contain coordination models located on local network sources which are no longer available.

Dimensions

• Fixed an issue where moved dimensions placed on steel elements changed their position on model open.

Fill Patterns

• Added functionality to allow export of one or many patterns to a new .pat file from the Manage Patterns dialog of a Revit project for easier use of saved patterns in other projects or products.

IFC

1. Significantly improved the geometric fidelity of the elements created in newly linked IFC files by using the same technology that enables Inventor's AnyCAD.

MEP Analytical Systems

• Integrated version 1.1.5 of OpenStudio CLI for Revit 2024. This version includes fixes for French language and security fixes.

MEP Fabrication

• Added two new out-of-box families "Duct Stiffener - External Rectangular Hat Section Tie Rod" and "M_Duct Stiffener - External Rectangular Hat Section Tie Rod" to the Load Autodesk Family library.
• Improved the reload configuration feature to retain manually placed couplings.
• Added the ability to map fittings in the design to fabrication and change service features.
• Added support for single element design to fabrication.

Parameters

• Added visual styles in type property preview dialog.

Project Browser

• Enabled Ctrl with mouse scrolling to zoom in /out in Project Browser.

Reinforcement

• Improved the behavior of multi-rebar annotation tags to snap when dragged, during or after placement, to other tags in the view.
• Added the ability to flip the tag in Multi-Rebar Annotations by pressing the spacebar.
• Added the ability to edit rebar segment lengths in canvas.
• Improved the behavior of multi-rebar annotations, to automatically position the tag with respect to the dimension line.

Revit Home

• Improved the 3 main icons on the Revit Home icons in dark theme: Recent Files; Autodesk Docs; My Insight.
• Improved the display of the thumbnail and file icons on Revit Home in dark theme.

Room/Area/Space

• Improved the performance by up to 89% when placing room/area/space tag in large model.

Schedules

• Improved revision cloud schedules filtered by sheet so that they properly update when maneuvering revision clouds.

Site

• Added support for Select All Instances for Toposolid Sub-Divisions.
• Improved the performance when copying, moving, or picking a new host for generic floor based families. In previous releases, placement was not responding; now the placement takes only a few seconds.
• Provided the simplify points function for users to reduce the points on toposolid.
• Improved the behavior of the Make Contour Settings dialog so that it is read only for a toposolid in RVT linked models.

Slab

• Added the ability to chain select split lines for a Toposolid category.
• Added the API to delete SlabShapeEditor Points.
• Enabled Add Split Line to set absolute and offset values regarding the top surface when editing the Slab Shape.

Structural Analytical Model

• Added the ability for structural engineers to update only the geometry or only the parameters for the Analytical Automation - Physical to Analytical for Buildings tool.
• Fixed an issue in which the Analytical Automation - Physical to Analytical Dynamo script would not update the Analytical Member Cross section according to the Physical element, if the physical element cross section was changed.
• Improved reports for the Physical to Analytical Automation package.
• Added the ability to move analytical floors containing arc sketches from one level to another using the Analytical Node's Level Association parameter from Properties menu.

Structural Families

• Enabled the split with gap functionality on structural framing and structural column families.
• Enabled the possibility of adding to tags the shape parameters of structural columns and framing that have a defined shape.
• Enabled the possibility of adding to tags the shape parameters of structural columns and framing that have a defined shape.
• Enabled split with gap for steel and concrete structural linear element (framings and columns).

Text

• Added the ability to change text alignment property in the ribbon when more than one text element is selected.

Twinmotion for Revit

• Improved behavior for cases where there is an existing direct link connection associated to the active Revit project, and a family is opened for edit; previously the direct link connection could be lost after returning to the active Revit project.
• Improved the behavior for cases where the workstation graphics card could be disabled, but the Datasmith Exporter for Revit and Open in Twinmotion functionality was still enabled.
• Improved the behavior for Revit 2023 or earlier models that have been modified and saved with the Datasmith Exporter for Revit plugin; on opening or upgrading this type of Revit model, the Schema Conflict dialog should no longer occur.
• Improved Auto Sync behavior when enabled for the active Revit model, and that Revit model is closed but the Revit session remains open; Auto Sync is now toggled off, so it is not shown as enabled for subsequent Revit models that may be opened.
• Improved handling of direct link connections to Revit models that contain displaced elements, which previously could cause stability issues when synchronizing changes.
• Improved messaging for cases when the Datasmith Exporter cannot initialize, which now displays a dialog providing additional information.
• Improved behavior when manually synchronizing or enabling Auto Sync and the detail level of the associated Revit 3D view was updated; previously elements could display incorrectly or not be visible.

User Interface

• Enabled the Dark Theme for number picker control in the Property Palette.
• Improved the highlighting color in the drop-down list on Type Selector and Ribbon for both Light and Dark Theme.
• Enabled the Up/Down keyboard after searching in Project Browser to improve the users' working efficiency.
• Replaced the new icons of Precast Tab on the Ribbon for both Light and Dark Theme.

View Range

• Added API function View3D.ScalePerspectiveCropBox (double multiplier) so that API users can modify crop region size by scale (lock proportion) in 3D perspective view.

Worksharing

• Added warnings when the view/sheet deletion can't be undone or redone.

Issues Resolved

API

• Fixed an issue where opening an upgraded file containing Schema that conflicts with Schema in the existing session will delete elements attached by Entities.
• Fixed the issue when using a single vertical line to split the Toposolid through API.
• Fixed the issue so that the API: NewOpening(Host, CurveArray, Boolean) works for the Toposolid category.

Autodesk Account Sign In

• Improved stability when starting Revit.
• Fixed an issue in which Revit became unresponsive at the Privacy Settings dialog when launched for the first time using a new Autodesk account.

Background Processes

• Fixed an issue that caused the Revit Background Process to hang after getting a disconnect error while using the sizing tool.

Batch Print

• Allowed Batch Print in Viewer mode to be used only for unchanged models.

Beams and Braces

• Fixed an issue in which the change of the beam section height would also move the beam elevation.

Color Fill

• Fixed an issue that flex ducts were not updated in the current view after the flow calculation completed.
• Improved the performance of color fill.

Content

• Fixed text misalignment issue in some views of Japanese sample models.
• Updated the transparency of Water material from 100 to 70 in DefaultJPNJPN.rte.
• Added missed Structural Connection content back to South Africa Library.
• Fixed appearance missing of material: Solar 72 Cell (Square) in Snowdon Towers Sample Architectural.rvt.
• Enabled shadows settings for some 3D views in Snowdon Towers Sample Architecture.rvt.

Coordination Model

• Improved stability when a coordination model is linked and an internet connection is not available.

Copy-Cut-Paste

• Fixed an API exception issue when copying or mirroring lines in the Revit family editor.

Design Option

• Fixed an issue where accepting a primary design option could incorrectly cause some elements to be deleted from the model.

Dynamo for Revit

• Performing Save As will now change the GUIDs for all Dynamo Nodes in a graph.
• Fixed an issue where the Graph Node Manager extension was missing from Dynamo after Revit install.
• Fixed a sporadic issue where Dynamo would take a long time to open.

Electrical Cable Tray and Conduit

• Improved stability when working with cable trays.

Energy Model

• Fixed an issue that caused analytical spaces to have no people or internal loads.
• Added a value to the property OriginatingElementDescription for objects of the class Autodesk.Revit.DB.Analysis.EnergyAnalysisOpening in the public API.

Export DWG/DXF

• Improved stability when configuring the DWG Export layer mapping settings.

Export ODBC

• Improved stability when setting up database connection in both ODBC and Revit DB link.

Export PDF

• Fixed an issue where memory was not returned when printing and exporting uncropped Realistic views on sheets which could cause performance and stability problems if RAM is exhausted.
• Fixed an issue that caused the revert export setup not working.

Family

• Fixed an issue that could occur when searching in the Family Types dialog.
• Fixed an issue that could occur when light fixture families with type catalogs are imported, exported or saved.

Fill Patterns

• Fixed an issue where Cut Pattern from the linked RVT is not displayed over the wall in host model because multiple cut patterns for overlapping geometry no longer display.

Floor

• Increased stability when floors/slabs are overlapped.

Graphics

• Fixed an issue where a repeating detail component was not visible on the screen during placement and when selected.
• Improved stability when orbiting in a 3D view set to display with Consistent Colors view style with Ambient Shadows active.

Groups

• Fixed an issue related to group member consistency checking, which would occur when adding new elements to a group instance; on group edit finish Revit would trigger the 'Group instances of the same type do not contain identical members' error.
• Fixed an issue related to small differences in group member heights when some group instances are hosted on different levels, which on group edit finish Revit would trigger the 'Group instances of the same type do not contain identical members' error.

IFC

• Improved linking IFC files with invalid shape representation labels.
• Improved the export category mapping table to work regardless of current Revit language.

Import/Export Other

• Fixed an issue where selecting certain elements would cause the Launch FormIt with Selected Revit Objects tool to fail.

Import/Export gbXML

• Improved stability when exporting to gbXML.

Import/Export/Link SAT/SKP

• Fixed an issue that could cause instability when exporting geometry to CAD formats from a model containing non-finite coordinates.

Join Geometry

• Fixed some cases where splitting toposolid may fail due to the boolean operation when ruled surfaces occur.
• Fixed error message when moving, editing, or rotating a view when elements geometry is joined.

Keynoting

• Fixed the issue when a Keynote tag is placed in a legend view and the keynote legend fails to display a value when Keynoting Settings > Numbering Method > By Sheet.

Levels

• Improved stability when editing a parameter from the 'Change Parameter Values' dialog, and the change triggers a secondary dialog requiring additional input.

MEP Analytical Systems

• Improved stability when generating energy analytical models using different analysis modes.

MEP Connectors

• Improved stability when dragging a cutting element by the connector grip from the host element.

MEP Fabrication

• Fixed an issue so that invalid connections are disconnected when the configuration is reloaded.
• Fixed an issue to allow single connector parts to be connected as expected to open ends.
• Added mid point snaps when inserting Fabrication parts.
• Fixed an issue to allow taps to disconnect when dragging away from the host.
• Fixed an issue so that moving sloped pipe maintains associated pipe supports.
• Fixed a sporadic issue with the trim/extend feature to prevent errors being posted that would lead to poor stability.
• Fixed an issue to prevent unnecessary couplings from being added when using the trim/extend feature.
• Fixed an issue to allow fabrication job files to be exported to network drives.

MEP Miscellaneous

• Fixed an issue that caused an nested generic annotations in face-based families to become mirrored when the family is placed on vertical surfaces.

Options Dialog

• Removed the Learn more link for the Cloud Model tab in the Option dialog for a consistent Help experience.

Pipe

• Fixed an issue where users cannot create the same type of assembly for the identical pipeline contained in the Tap junction.

Project Browser

• Improved stability after renaming level name from Project Browser and then clicking Load Family from Ribbon before the renaming reminder dialog prompt.
• Improved stability when renaming a view in the Project Browser and clicking Open.
• Fixed the inconsistent Japanese font issue on the Project Browser to make it consistent with the canvas and the Properties palette.
• Added support for shortcut keys in the Project Browser.
• Improved the behavior of the node name in the Project Browser to be fully visible when renaming.

Reinforcement

• Fixed an issue where the segment lengths displayed in bending details used the bar length rounding setting, instead of the segment length rounding.
• Improved the stability when dimensioning bars in area reinforcement.
• Improved stability when placing rebar by two points.
• Fixed an issue where the angular dimension text position could not be set to a different value than dimension text position.

Revit Cloud Model (workshared)

• Fixed an issue where the user was prompted to relinquish or keep editable elements even after relinquishing everything with the Synchronize with Central command.

Revit DB Link

• Improved stability and enabled RDB Link and ODBC Export with Office 365 and Microsoft Access 2016.

Revit Home

• Fixed an issue where sorting by time in the Version History page was not done in chronological order.

Route Analysis

• Resolved an issue where users cannot create a route analysis when the model contains duct accessories.

Routing Solutions

• Improved stability when using the Type Selector to swap fittings when there are several connectors.

Schedules

• Fixed an issue where filtering by sheet schedule instances wasn't updating after changing elements in edit mode.

Sheets

• Improved stability when using the 'Move Aligned to Sheet' command and an invalid sheet is selected.
• Improved stability when using the 'Move Aligned to Sheet' command to move views or other elements in a Revit Cloud Worksharing environment.
• Fixed an issue where some annotation schedules set to filter by sheet, such as a Note Block schedule, would not immediately update after moving the elements being scheduled using the 'Move Aligned to Sheet...' command.

Site

• Fixed an issue when editing slab shape editor points in different views.
• Fixed an issue when generating a toposolid from an existing file that contains a toposurface.
• Disabled the unused shortcuts for Toposurface tools.
• Removed the Contour Display parameter for Model-In-Place Toposolid as its not applicable.
• Changed the hotkey for the Parking Component command from PC to A.

Slab

• Fixed an issue when adding vertices on the boundary edges of toposolid when splitting it.

Stair

• Improved stability when placing a winder stair.

Startup/Shutdown

Structural Analytical Model

• Fixed an issue in which the analytical column was generated below the physical column by the Analytical Automation - Physical to Analytical script.
• Fixed an issue in which the hosted node properties were not preserved when the supporting analytical member was flipped.
• Fixed an issue in which analytical elements couldn't be moved/copied inside the model.
• Improved stability when accessing the Loads Scaling Display menu.
• Improved performance when adding new grids for models with structural analytical model or structural columns.
• Fixed an issue in which the structural Floor\Slab Sketch lines displayed parameters from the previous analytical model.
• Fixed an issue in which the same keyboard shortcut was assigned to the Structural Loads and Structural Analytical Model menus.
• Fixed an issue in which a truss, attached with the top to a 2 slope roof, was retuning a warning message when the Array command was used.

• Improved the stability when adding or removing tag hosts.

Twinmotion for Revit

• Fixed an issue that could cause material textures from the Autodesk Material Library to not be included in Twinmotion, after adding the Revit model as a Direct Link or exporting to a Datasmith file.
• Fixed an issue that could cause the error 'Revit cannot run the external application TwinmotionForRevit' that could display during Revit shutdown.
• Fixed an issue where some text in the Datasmith Export Settings dialog was not being properly translated when Revit was run in non-English languages.

User Interface

• Provided an error message when Revit is not stable at startup due to CefSharp initialization failed.
• Fixed an issue where the "Curved" icon appears to be the same as the "Two Segments" icon.
• Fixed an issue where Revit would hang during startup if a color book with errors was added.
• Improved the display of the icon of the browser edit control in dark theme for some dialogs.
• Improved the disabled display of the solution image button in the Options bar.

• Fixed an issue when trying to create a wall of a wall type that was last used as a tapered wall which no longer supports the tapered cross-section.
• Fixed an issue where alternating between the wall tool and the family browser to create walls may result in incompatible cross-section parameters.
