The Autodesk Revit 2024.2 Update is available via the Autodesk Access or via download from the Autodesk subscription site.

Autodesk Revit 2024.2 Update

The Revit 2024 updates are cumulative and include all changes from previously released Revit 2024 updates.

Revit 2024.2 Update does not support uninstall.
If Revit 2024.2 Update is applied to Revit 2024 the software cannot be reverted to its pre-update state.

This update addresses customer reported issues and product instabilities.

Energy - Analytical Model

• Corrected schematic materials in the Constructions.XML that had zero thickness.

Fabrication - MEP

• Added the ability to map fittings in the design to fabrication and change service features. Also added support for single element design to fabrication.
• Improved the messaging to be consistent between multi-point routing and the service miss-match warnings.
• Improved the persistence of overridden connectors when using the reload configuration feature.
• Improved the behavior of the insert part feature to toggle automatically based on the position of the cursor relative to the parts in the model.
• Improved the reload configuration architecture to increase the part connection success rate when validating connections.
• Improved the connectivity checks to disconnect when pipes are reversed from dragging elements in canvas.
• Improved the reload configuration feature to reduce the chances of disconnections in the following scenarios: * Movement from connector length changes. * Connections to design flex duct. * Connections to design pipe. * Moving fixed length straights (nipples).

MEP Analytical Systems

• Added support for creating project and shared parameters for building and space types that may be used by the version of gbXML read by OpenStudio.
• Added support for creating project and shared parameters for Project Information that may be used by the version of gbXML read by OpenStudio.

MEP Electrical Analytical

• Improved performance by up to 99% when working with electrical analytical nodes in the System Browser.

MEP Electrical Circuits

• Improved the API ElectricalSystem.Create() to make it use the voltage of the first matched connector when creating an electrical system with the connectors whose voltages were mapped to an instance parameter.

Materials

• Displayed the server path for material texture tooltip even the server path cannot be found.

Properties Dialog

• Added the ability to override the default parameter order in the properties and type properties dialogs, sorting by either alphanumeric ascending or descending order.

UI Frameworks

• Improved the preview color of the viewport boundary while dragging views into a sheet as the pre-selection color.
• Supported Dark Theme for Schedule Views to keep consistent for the First Level UI.
• Supported Dark Theme for Panel Schedule Views to keep consistent for the First Level UI.
• Enabled automatic color conversion for all views in Dark Theme.

• Improved Sync with Central performance in models with huge deleted worksets.

Issues Resolved

This update resolves an issue with the extensible storage schema that impacts addons and projects upgraded to Revit 2024. Version 2024.2 is compatible with the previous 2024.1.1 update. 2024.2 and 2024.1.1 can be used concurrently for project work.

The 2024.1.1 and 2024.2 updates are important for work-sharing users. It is essential that all project team members are using these releases of Revit or newer. This prevents the potential reintroduction of the extensible storage schema problem to models worked on in versions of Revit prior to 2024.1.1.

API

• Fixed an issue in which API function Parameter.Definition.GetDataType().TypeId returned obsolete specs (spec schemas that inherit from the obsolete base specs "autodesk.spec:spec.int64-1.0.0", "autodesk.spec:spec.measurable-1.0.0", and "autodesk.spec:spec.string-1.0.0".).
• Added an API for adding points (plural) on SlabShapeEditor.
• Fixed an issue when an element with Entity attached is operated by a user in an upgraded file and a previous version file is opened in the same session containing the same schema.

Beam System

• Improved the response time when launching the Structural Beam System command.
• Fixed an issue that prevented the beam system command from successfully running in 2D views for some models with many parallel beams.

Ceiling

• Improved stability when creating a ceiling in a ceiling plan.

Design Option

• Views created in a non-primary design option will be preserved when the primary design is accepted.

Dimensions

• Improved stability when adding Spot Elevation on Site.
• Improved stability when updating angular dimension.
• Resolved a performance issue where opening any dependent view containing dimensions could take much longer than opening the primary view.

Duct

• Improved stability by disabling the user modification of an air terminal's flow value when the flow parameter is defined in a formula.

Duct/Pipe Sizing

• Improved stability when some duct and pipe systems were deleted after the sizing operation.

Dynamo for Revit

• Fixed an issue related to the graph nodes functionality in Dynamo for Revit.

Electrical Panel Schedule

• Improved stability when applying a panel schedule template.

Energy Model

• Ensured the analytical surface is non-sliding door type when a panel inside a curtain wall is assigned as a door.
• Fixed an issue that caused solid panels in curtain walls to be exported to gbXML using an incorrect analytical construction.
• Fixed text visibility issues for users that have their Revit set in other languages.
• Added error messaging for failed energy analysis model validation.

Family

• Fixed an issue that could occur when editing family types.

Fill Patterns

• Improved stability when setting solid fill as pattern on a non-masking filled region in a family.
• Fixed an issue where the description in the tooltip for a custom fill pattern that was exported and reimported was not readable if the pattern name had unsupported characters.
• Improved stability by resolving "No memory" errors when opening models with many components with complex geometry.

Graphics

• Resolved an issue with digital signatures.

IFC

• Improved stability when exporting models with steel elements to IFC for models without building story levels.
• Reduce time for import/link CAD operations by up to 50% for SAT, Rhino, and SKP files.
• Reduce time for link IFC operations by up to 15%.

Import/Export gbXML

• Fixed an issue that caused an exterior wall analytical surface from having a valid ConstructionIdRef assigned in a gbXML.
• Fixed an issue that prevented the infiltration and outdoor airflow values on spaces from being exported to gbXML when using the Rooms or Spaces mode.

Import/Export Image

• Improved stability when importing or linking a particular PDF file.

Import/Link DWG/DXF/DGN

• Prevented potential stability issues due to periodic spline-based surfaces created from imported or linked CAD geometry.
• Fixed an issue in which Revit could potentially produce empty or invalid geometry when importing an elliptical cone or cylinder from DWG, DGN, of DXF files.

Install

• Fixed an issue in which users were prompted for the original RVT.msi file during installation of updates when Revit is installed side-by-side with another Autodesk product that includes the Revit Interoperability component, such as Navisworks Manage.

Interference

• Fixed an issue where the Interference Check tool was disabled when the Shared Views Palette was opened.

MEP Analytical Systems

• Corrected an issue where an analytical surface for an opening combined of a group of doors and windows was assigned an inappropriate construction.
• Added support for creating project and shared parameters for building and space types that may be used by the version of gbXML read by OpenStudio.

MEP Connectors

• Improved stability when dragging or flipping MEP family connector grip controls.
