The Framework for Civil 3D includes a powerful Survey Codes Spreadsheet Tool. The tool is a favorite of many Framework customers. The Codes Tools is employed to externally manage and maintain both Survey and Design Codes that may be employed in Descriptions Keys, Description Key Sets, Figure Prefix Db, Survey Queries, Point Group definitions, and even Civil 3D Corridor Code Set Style point location output.

Innovative Civil 3D Codes

The Codes Spreadsheet Tool is employed to systematically manage the Codes, the key Format column properties, and produce filtered production lists of Codes for other Framework for Civil 3D’s other Spreadsheet Tools including:

  • Description Key Set Tool – integrated with Layer Standards Spreadsheet Tools
  • Survey Figure Prefix Db Tool – integrated with Layer Standards Spreadsheet Tools
  • Survey Query Tool
  • Corridor Points Coded Translation Output

The Codes Spreadsheet Tool will optionally produce generic Civil 3D Point, Figure, and Code Set point data sets for QAQC and testing. Your Civil 3D project without data is meaningless.

Detailed help and documentation for the new Civil 3D Codes Spreadsheet Tool and usage is available on-line.

Framework for Civil 3D Codes AddOn

The latest Codes AddOn is a major upgrade to the previously released Survey Codes Spreadsheet Tool. We upgraded and changed the official name to the Codes Spreadsheet Tool due to the increased level of in-depth support for Design centric Codes in the tool.

All Release 8 2020 and Release 8 AIA 2020 and Release 7 2020 Jump Kit product customers may download the Civil 3D Codes AddOn for free from the respective download page.

For older release product customers, the Civil 3D Codes AddOn may be purchased by upgrading to any Release 2020 Jump Kit product.

Better Design and Documentation is Possible

The Codes Spreadsheet Tool intentionally operates and functions independently from any Layer System, Symbol system, or any Annotative Standards. Said another way - We have customers who bought the Framework just to get the Codes Spreadsheet Tool and that was before this immense upgrade.

More Codes That are Easier to Use

We added over 3600 new and revised Codes.

We included in-depth NCS Key compliant variations which allow for better integration with NCS Layer Standards and better BIM for infrastructure compliance.

All the additions listed below do not include the existing in-depth location Code resource support already included in previous and popular releases of the Survey Codes Spreadsheet Tool.

In-depth integrations with the Framework’s Adaptive Building Block Style collections are now built in.

See the Release 8 Details page for earlier important Code Tool improvements and a summary of the Civil 3D Codes AddOn.

New Built-in Code Filters

The ability to Filter and Sort the Code list is improved by the addition of new Filter columns in the Tool.

Not Keys and BESTWay figure Codes are clearly identified by new separate sheet Filter columns to help identify potential list members faster and easier.

New Type, NCS, and Version filters are now included.

Copy by column functionality in Excel now allows faster and easier customized preference choices of any and all specialized, NCS Key, Not Key, and BESTWay Codes Tools. Separations matter when we seek to customize Civil 3D.

Not Key and BESTWay Code Additions

The Framework’s field crew, shop crew, and design staff optimized Not Key and BESTWay technology now includes a lot more built in user preference and lots more choices.

Automatic cell formula Basic Descriptions are generated for all Added and Updated Codes.

US Corps, DOD, and GSA Keys

Added many matched 4-digit Codes for typical NCS civil/survey Layer System Keys.
These include locations, lines, Not Key Tools, and BESTWay figure patterns. Many, but not all, are listed below and in following sections.

USA Markup Support

New standardized USA Markup (or other markup service providers) Not Key Tools for all infrastructure utility types with support for location, line, and duckbank conditions.

Survey Monument Control

New Found and Set standardized Not Key Tool collections for both found and set conditions for all the common and many uncommon monumentation scenarios.
The new available number of Found and Set Keys is significantly larger and more detailed.
It is now much easier to tweak these more standardized Code lists for regional and/or local differences and preferences.
