The Generative Design 22.5.2 for Revit 2022 is available via the Autodesk Desktop Connector app or via download from the Autodesk subscription site. The update requires access to the original install resources.

This build replaces any previously installed version of Generative Design for Revit.

The build version of this release of Generative Design 22.5.2.

Direct access to Generative Design in Revit using the ribbon tools is available only to subscribers of the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, & Construction (AEC) Collection. Without the AEC Collection subscription, you can access some similar functionality with Dynamo for Revit.

Generative Design 22.5.2 for Revit 2022

With Generative Design in Revit, you can leverage computing power to quickly generate and explore alternatives to a design problem.

In a generative design process, you specify the goals, constraints, and inputs. Then you leverage the power of the computer to generate lots of design alternatives quickly and to evaluate these alternatives against the defined goals. The result is a set of alternatives that help you meet your design goals.

Improvements

Generative Design tools in Dynamo:

  • Study Type and Issues, formerly under the Generative Design menu option in Dynamo, can now be found under Extensions Show Graph Properties and Show Graph Status in Dynamo. Any issues will be displayed in the Graph Status view with instructions for fixing them.

Add properties to a Generative Design study graph:

  • You can now optionally add graph name, graph author’s name, image, and documentation link to a study type graph. In Dynamo, go to Extensions Show Graph Properties to view and edit properties. These properties will display in the Create Study dialog in the Generative Design application.

Documentation links for study types:

  • In the Create Study dialog, access detailed information about each sample study type by clicking the details button. Click the link to learn about typical use cases, model setup requirements, inputs, outputs, geometry visualization, and known issues or limitations. For custom study types, you can add a link to your own documentation in Dynamo (see Add properties to a Generative Design study graph, above).

Set graph type and automatically bundle dependencies:

  • To prepare a custom graph for use in Generative Design, open the Graph Status view (Extensions Show Graph Status) and select Generative Design in the Graph Type drop-down. Once the graph type is set, Dynamo will automatically bundle the dependencies of this graph whenever the file is saved.
