Release 8 Codes Points and Figures for NCS 6

We’ve released a major update to three of our powerful and integrated Spreadsheet Tools for the Framework for Civil 3D.

Release 8 Codes Points and Figures for NCS 6 AddOn

This AddOn supplies more InstantOn points capabilities out of the box. It supplies easier to employ Standards development tools and even the results resources.

Current Release 7 Framework for Civil 3D 2018 and 2019 customers can visit the respective download pages and download this latest AddOn.

All the appropriate Spreadsheet Tools documentation and help pages were updated with the up-to-date support details and how to mechanics.

The AddOn supplies updated Framework Spreadsheet Tools and results resources for:

• Survey Codes Tool
• Description Key Set Tools for both NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA classic utility layers
• Figure Db Tools for both NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA classic utility layers

The supplied Release 8 Spreadsheet Tools replace and update the previously supplied Spreadsheet Tools, but do not overwrite previously supplied Release 7 NCS 5 spreadsheets.

The supplied Release 8 Spreadsheet Tools support any Release 7 Framework for Civil 3D products in any of the multiple supported releases of Civil 3D.

These tools are not supplied with any versions of Templates Only.

The R8 Codes Points and Figures Tools AddOn includes updated Layers lists supplied in Release 8 NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA Layer Standards AddOns released earlier.

The R8 Codes Points and Figures Tools AddOn also intentionally does not replace other supplied InstantOn and Jump Kit resources.

Survey Codes Tool

The Survey Codes Tool produces Code lists for use in the Description Key Set Tool, Figure Db Tool, and Survey Queries Tool.

Additional Survey Codes were included for:

• Traffic signaling with code support for pole, sized-masts, and head assemblies
• Street lighting with code support for pole, sized-masts
• Additional sized utility vaults

This version of the Survey Codes Tool supports:

• Easier point code and figure testing
• Additional built in Filter columns
• Better testing of complex Codes including more powerful and complex Not Keys and BESTWay type survey point code and figure patterns and structures.
• Ability to test, compare, and optionally force Survey Code translations
• Improved and easier to use Survey Code match list and Translator Key Set construction
• New Reverse Translator Key Set is now automatically produced

Matched Description Key Set Tools and Figure Db Tools

The Description Key Set Tools and Figure Db Tools include updated Layers lists supplied in Release 8 NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA Layer Standards AddOns released earlier.

Both Framework standard utility (UT@@) and classic AIA utility Layer Standard versions of these different and separate Spreadsheet Tools are supplied. In other words, the new Description Key Set Tools and Figure Db Tools are supplied in matched pairs based on the desired Layer scheme.

Description Key Set Tools:

Updated and comprehensive lists of NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA Layers are included. The list includes Layers from multiple NCS Disciplines.

All Description Key Set sheets are supplied in PDF format.

• New Description Key Set creation sheets with both Layer and Point Style picklists
• Fast Copy and Paste Key Set construction
• Test and validate Layers where that applies
• Test and validate Point Styles where that applies
• Built-in Description Key Set PDF documentation capability
• AIA version updated to conform to all the required Layer changes

Note that most Description Key Set Layer assignments in supplied resources can be updated with Layer rename scripts supplied in the Layer Standards Spreadsheet Tools supplied in the appropriate AddOns.

You can also post process publication drawings with Layer rename scripts supplied in the Layer Standards Spreadsheet Tools supplied in the appropriate AddOns to revise assigned Layer assignments.

Fixes to Layer Assignments

Minor Layer assignment corrections of Codes to specific Description Keys were made for design conditions:

• Key HI - Layer C-NODE-GRND to C-TOPO-NODE
• Key LINE## - Layer C-ANNO to C-NPLT
• Key REFL## - Layer C-ANNO-NPLT to C-NPLT

Figure Db Tools:

Updated and comprehensive lists of NCS 6 and NCS 6 AIA Layers are included. The list includes Layers from multiple NCS Disciplines.

• Include New Figure Db records creation sheets with both Layer and Figure Style picklists
• Fast Copy and Paste Figure details construction
• Built-in Breakline and Lot Line data validation
• Test and validate Layers where that applies
• Test and validate Figure Styles where that applies
• AIA version updated to conform to all the required Layer changes

Note that Figure Prefix Db Layer assignments cannot be updated with Layer rename scripts. The individual records must be updated if the referenced layer scheme or details changes.

After external edits and/or creations of Figure Prefix Db it is suggested you open and save the new supplied Figure Prefix Dbs inside Civil 3D before employing them to check for consistency and errors.

However, you can always post process publication drawings with Layer rename scripts supplied in the Layer Standards Spreadsheet Tools and supplied in the appropriate AddOns to revise Layer assignments.
