The NCS Layer Standards rely on the concept and practice of a standard Pattern (Keys and delimiters) coupled with Major and Minor Keys. Every CAD Layer or Level standard employs this basic concept these days. True, we could just employ the unique numeric IDs the software’s actually use, but these aren’t very user friendly.
