Better Ease of Use

We significantly improved the granularity of the supplied Style and Label Style resource collection drawings to make it easier to select, import, and employ those resources in your templates no matter how you choose to implement those templates. In effect, all Pipe and Pressure Pipe System Style and Label Style Tools collections are now Adaptive Building Blocks which are therefore now much easier to separately include in your templates.

Caveats

To be perfectly clear, the Framework for Civil 3D products do not supply custom Pipe and Pressure Pipe catalogs and/or custom part libraries constructed with the Infrastructure Parts Editor.

The Framework does supply the Styles and annotative Imperial units Label Styles to resolve, display, and publish the stock Civil 3D resources and any custom catalogs and/or Infrastructure Parts libraries. If you supply those custom resources as a Civil 3D product, please feel free to drop me an email and we’ll be happy to test and validate them.

We also included some typical examples of potential Adaptive Building Block task-based mashups in the new collection. If you require more detailed design structures, the Adaptive Template Building Blocks can be easily combined.
For example: your Flood Control project’s levee design includes detailed Riprap, Gabion, and Revetment structures with detailed benching and diversion drainage ditches.

For simpler projects each Adaptive Template Building Block can all be easily simplified by the basic principal of the deletion of extra unnecessary Styles and/or Layers before assembling them into your static Civil 3D Template or Reference Template. Don’t need detailed Area control for your project? Purge the supplied area Parcel Styles and layers and get to work.

Each Adaptive Template Building Block includes the appropriate Feature Line, Alignment, Profile, and Parcel based integrated Styles. In other words, if you create a Levee based Corridor the entire integrated collection of warranted Styles is instantly available.
These include the common Styles for design, QAQC, and publication:

  • Appropriate secondary Offset Alignment Styles
  • Appropriate Profile Styles
  • All the matched and detailed Feature Line Styles
  • Typical Area boundaries in both outlined and fill Parcel Styles
  • A separate Profile and Section and Style collection (Layer States included) resource drawing with optional granular Layer detail

The Adaptive Building Block or By Key collection is supplied in addition to the huge Jump Kit Style Library of thousands of project tested production styles. Please note that all previously supplied By Key Style resources have be totally rebuilt and replaced in Release 8. The existing Jump Kit By Key resources are included and significantly improved for ease of use and now include new capabilities and more Style Tools.

Profile and Section Styles

Based on customer requests, we also include in the new By Key resources an in-depth collection of new Profile and Section Styles. These more detailed Styles with explicit Level of Detail layer assignments for use in Profile View and Section Views are supplied in a separate drawing resource file.
These supplied Profile and Section Styles may be employed to replace simpler and less detailed Styles in working or publication templates if that Level of Detail required from your Civil 3D project.

Managed to Be More Flexible

The choice to employ any of the specialty Adaptive Building Block Styles and detail is optional. You can safely mix and match the Framework’s supplied generic Styles with the more detailed and specific Adaptive Building Block Styles inproduction.

You will spend less time hassling with the Layer details and mechanics in every project during all forms of production design and publication work.

  • The typical NCS annotative Layers are built into each Adaptive Building Block by default.
  • Each Adaptive Building Block also includes integrated and standardized Layer State controls which are easily combined into the Framework’s existing supplied Layer States systems.
  • All the Layer Standard customization including the supplied script resources are integrated into our powerful Spreadsheet Tools
  • All the Layer Property particulars for each and every Adaptive Building Block can be systematically managed by you.

Support for Your Design Methodology of Choice

The new Adaptive Template Building Block Style collections support both classic Feature Line and Grading object mechanics and workflows.

Out of the box these new Release 8 Adaptive Template Building Block Style Tools also provide mission critical support for the more powerful Corridor-based workflows now available in more recent releases of Civil 3D.

You can easily couple any Assemblies and create powerful Code Set Styles to employ the new Release 8 Adaptive Template Building Block Style Tools. Your Data Referenced, Multi-Baseline Corridors instantly become more user friendly and more consistent. The new Framework Release 8 tools enable more productive workflows in a wider variety of Civil 3D projects.

Adaptive Layer Standards

By default Release 8 employs the latest NCS 6.0 Layer Standard. That includes built-in NCS 6, GSA, DOD (Department of Defense), and US Army Corps layer standards support. All the standards construction resources are delivered for both STB and CTB. Layers with integrated properties for all the official NCS Disciplines are supported.

The Framework for Civil 3D’s robust, adaptive, and flexible approach to CAD Layer Standards in Civil 3D allows our customers to meet the demanding requirements in more projects, more jurisdictions, and for more diverse clients with less work, improved ease of use, and better publication capabilities. The supplied resources can be easily changed to support any of multiple variants of the NCS or even your own custom set of Layer Keys.

See the NCS 6 Release 8 Layer Standards AddOn Updates post for the specifics and details.

See our Open Source list of the NCS 6 Civilized Standard Keys for Civil 3D post and download for all the specific NCS 6.0 layer and level Key details.

Adaptive Points and Annotative Standards

Release 8 delivers integrated matched sets of Survey Codes, Description Key Sets, and Survey Figures with upgraded built-in support and supplied resources for those new Release 8 Layer Standards.

In a nutshell Release 8 supplies more InstantOn Civil 3D Point and general annotation capabilities out of the box. It supplies easier to employ Standards development tools and even the results resources. The Framework for Civil 3D is therefore even more adaptive, flexible, and robust in Release 8.
