The Virtual Autodesk University 2020 event is still on-going. AU 2020 is free. There is no registration fee for AU 2020. You might want to take advantage of the horde of recorded AU 2020 session content that is available. My guess is that Autodesk will tally  over 100,000 event attendees worldwide when AU 2020 is all said and done. That is 10 times the number of live US AU events in the past.

The stock market noticed.

How Autodesk chooses to count AU attendees and/or registered AU attendees will never be a matter of public debate. Autodesk actively tracks and counts everything. The amount of tracking code on AU 2020 pages is staggering and interesting in the variety of partners.

All of that counting is subject to official California State government and Autodesk public privacy policies. Seems to me that the phrase - official public privacy policies - says it best. Eheh.

Reimagine Possible?

This year we are all supposed to Reimagine Possible. Whoa. This year’s AU theme is an interesting politically correct, decidedly left, and woke choice of words. If you seriously think about it, Reimagine Possible is not exactly an inspiring ode to creativity either. The phrase is technically a negative contradiction of terms.

Anyone else’s initial Imagination of the Possible is somehow wrong by definition? Huh?

Clouds in My Coffee

Those of us out here in Civil 3D Land have the usual rash of questions with the usual and understandable fear and trembling thrown in. No big surprises here if you have been watching the surf reports. The most substantive question…

What is Autodesk going to change?

Autodesk believes it is sustainable, diverse, and in their best interest to helps us get our AEC work done by integrating the Autodesk Cloud platforms into all our daily work.

The Autodesk Construction Cloud therefore now becomes the Autodesk cloud of choice.
Welcome to the new age and the new Autodesk trending words - Digital Twin.

The AEC Collection Gets the Cloud Uplift

See the Autodesk to Upgrade the AEC Collection news post that contains links to details can clarifications.

These new AEC Collection product upgrades are promised to be available before Jan 31, 2021.

Autodesk, Inc. officially announced at Autodesk University 2020 a significant upgrade and changes to the future AEC Collection products and subscription. Autodesk will add Autodesk Construction Cloud enabled document management to the AEC Collection, as well as launching two new product offerings for design content authors and reviewers.

“A bring-your-own subscription model will allow project owners to invite other subscribers (internal or external to the company) to join a project. These new tools make it easy to store unlimited data in one platform and enabling design review and project analytics for the file types most used in the AEC industry.”

Autodesk Docs

The Construction Cloud based Autodesk Docs replaces BIM 360 Docs and will be available for AEC Collection subscribers. Autodesk Docs underpins the common data environment for every unified product with centralized document management, providing users with seamless navigation and integrated workflows to create a single source of truth across the project lifecycle.

Autodesk BIM Collaborate

The Construction Cloud based BIM Collaborate allows for non-authoring collaborators, including project managers, owners, virtual design and construction specialists, and others. BIM Collaborate enables teams to align and execute on design intent and constructability within a cloud-based solution and common data environment.

See the Autodesk Construction Cloud Upgrades news post for details and links to official posts.

Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro

BIM 360 Design offering will become BIM Collaborate Pro. Customers will have access to model coordination and Insights and connections to the Autodesk Construction Cloud.

There are yet another AEC Collection Cloud integration that Autodesk announced…

Autodesk Docs Extension for AutoCAD

Already available this week - the Autodesk Docs Extension for AutoCAD plug-in will allow CAD drawings to be published as a PDF directly from AutoCAD to Autodesk Docs or BIM 360.

Now for some fun…

Grading Design Optimization for Civil 3D

Autodesk talked about and showed off video demos of a new and upcoming Grading Design Optimization for Civil 3D product at AU 2020.
No product availability date has been announced as of this post publication.
I public corporation speak this probably means not in this Autodesk quarter.

Charlie Ogden’s presentation is at the end of the Civil Design Advancements & Innovations video available on the Autodesk University 2020 Civil Infrastructure page.
