We all shuffle into the hot month of August. We might call this the month when Mediterranean wheat fields begin to become golden. Call the fields the Golden Ones. The Roman poets and comedians did. When we think about it, August – the golden one - appears to still carry some serious literary, historical, political chops.
What about august economic repercussions? Nah.
There is nothing commercial about Wheaties boxes and Olympic Golds is there?
Can we guess one person who will not be on the cereal boxes this fall?
Maybe they already printed them? Oh. Bother.
Simon says, do not take a baby step.
Meanwhile out here in Civil 3D Land Autodesk releases the…

Autodesk Civil 3D 2022.0.1 Update
Autodesk released a tiny Civil 3D 2022.01 Update to fix serious issues in Civil 3D 2022 if you delete parcels and then UNDO and PURGE them. See the Autodesk Civil 3D 2022.0.1 Update News post for details.
Why this isn’t called a Hot Fix confuses me almost as much as CDC mask recommendations.
That probably has to do with the new Autodesk release 2022 install technologies more than anything else.
Autodesk also released…

Now for some good, golden, and august fun.
Golden Ones
Augustus (the plural of an august) is what the Romans had to refer the first emperor as. The mighty eight (Octavian) mandated that this is what Roman citizens must do. Funny thing. Not everyone did. This annoyed him. The man did officially declare himself a god - after he died.
A god must at least appear to be humble while he lives, doesn’t he?
Augustus had the many existing statues of Alexander the Great (note the singular great - eheh) replaced by statues of his majesties self to make the point that Augustus was indeed the plurality of great.
Imagine That
This act of historic statuesque spin made statues of Augustus especially popular throughout the Roman Empire. Images of a King of another sort - the Christ – rather quickly replaced them. Images of Christ for some reason often look like either Alexander or Augustus for reasons that should make some sense now that you know.
Augustus came to power by claiming to save the Roman Republic from the evil clutches of his great uncle’s friend and councilor Mark Anthony who was shacking up with his great uncle’s ex-wife Cleopatra who was certainly not his mother.
We think Reality TV is weird?
Shakespeare knew a hit when he saw one.
August Hot Air Rises
Ok. I forget. We live in Kardashian land.
A conservative Gold Metal guy from the Wheaties box is running for Governor of CA as a woman?
She’s running against the recalled SF wunderkind ally of Willie Brown who’s ex-girlfriend is the VP for a geriatric President that isn’t sure who’s Presidential administration it is on any given day?
Come on, Man. Read the play.
The August Sciences
Some August chemistry - The atomic symbol for gold is AU. If you already know what metal is V, then you understand more than I want to about investment potential batteries and energy storage.
Astrophysics fun - One Astronomical Unit is an AU. This unit represents the distance between the orbit of Earth and the Sun. This is one of my august favorites since one AU sounds so precise but isn’t that precise at all. It changed more than a bit while you read this paragraph. The Earth and Moon revolve around each other in a helix while the pair orbits the Sun.
Back in the day I once drove a car with a speedometer that worked like this. Somehow, I managed to never get a ticket. That says something about my powers of observation, my good fortune, or both.
The August Bodies
For reasons that may make perfect sense the calculations of an AU also remind me of federal budget legislation that often happens in August while the House and Senate are not in session. Huh?
Those sustained efforts entail a lot of elliptical speech and so much circular math that maybe only a genius like Newton could understand them. Eheh.
If you recall what Newton did for a living most of his life, this should make even more sense.
We measure physical force in newtons for understandable reasons.
The scariest part of August decisions is that the august somebodies need to vote for and then augustly sign them.
How often do the august see themselves in the plural?
