Autodesk released the AutoCAD 2024.1 Update for AutoCAD 2024 and all the AutoCAD Toolset products including Autodesk Civil 3D 2024 earlier this week. Out here in Civil 3D Land, some folks awaited the AutoCAD 2024.1 Update with baited breath.
Yes. The phrase is supposed to be “bated breath”, but here a wicked case of sardine scented exhale seems to be in order. “You are excited. Would you like anchovies with that?”
No AutoCAD 2024.1 Update and no Autodesk Civil 3D 2024.1 Update. In the ACAD 2024.1 Update notes, we should all notice the many references to large coordinate number fixes and graphic performance level improvements related to the Map 3D and Civil 3D coordinate system space. Just sayin’.
AutoCAD 2024.1 Update Arrives
Autodesk cannot resist more market driven AI references in the ACAD 2024.1 Update marketing. The Autodesk Assistant and improvements to Markup Assist, Trace, and Activity Insights all get the mandatory machine learning and AI marketing mention.

Markup Assist
The AutoCAD 2024.1 Update includes definite improvements to Markup Import and Markup Assist capabilities.
AutoCAD 2024 Graphic Performance
Frankly, File Open and Pan and Zoom AutoCAD 2024.1 Update performance improvements will get the attention of most of us in Civil 3D Land. The larger and more complex the drawing and/or the XREF stack in the drawing the more the raw AutoCAD improvements should matter.
We won’t even have to wait for the Autodesk Civil 3D 2024.1 Update to get some of that. Way cool.
