Out here in the wilds of Civil 3D Land, we recognize that an update for Autodesk Civil 3D never arrives all at once. It’s hard to forget that. We may choose to avoid thinking about it for as long as possible. There is more important civil engineering and survey project work to get out the door.

A Civil 3D Update is dependent on raw AutoCAD updates and the AutoCAD Map 3D Toolset updates as well. Truth be told, a Civil 3D Update these days is now more dependent than ever on other Autodesk applications too.

Let me count the ways…

Gear Up for the Civil 3D 2024.1 Update

In case you missed it – the AutoCAD 2024.1 Update shipped at the end of July. This raw AutoCAD Update for 2024 seems to be a nice performance upgrade for Civil 3D 2024 all by itself.
See the AutoCAD 2024.1 Update Released post for the details about the graphics performance enhancements that matter for Civil 3D.

Autodesk released most of the AutoCAD 2024.0.1 Updates for most of the AutoCAD Toolsets last week.
See the AutoCAD 2024.0.1 Toolset Updates News post.

The AutoCAD Map 3D 2024.0.1 Update and Toolset was released this week.
See the Autodesk Map 3D 2024.0.1 Update News post.

That’s Dazed and Confused?

Why the recent AutoCAD Update is named 2024.1 and the AutoCAD Toolsets for that Update are named 2024.0.1 is beyond me.
Maybe I am missing something?

That looks like the recently released AutoCAD Toolsets were built on the earlier AutoCAD 2024.0.1 Update. The newer Toolsets including Map 3D seem to require the AutoCAD 2024.1 Update.
Who knows?
Maybe the Toolsets technically run in both? What would be the point of that?

Maybe the whole thing is a Page fault. Eheh.
Ok. That weird guitar player reference deserves explanation.
Dazed and Confused was Led Zeppelin’s and Jimmy Page’s live performance big solo jam number for decades.

Sausage and Mash

Back in the day in England they used to call zeppelins in the clouds “Sausage and Mash” for obvious reasons.

Speaking of Heads in the Clouds

Autodesk would probably prefer that you host your Civil 3D Projects in the Autodesk Construction Cloud. Therefore, Every Civil 3D Update deserves an improved Autodesk Desktop Connector (ADC).
What do you know? The latest ADC shipped late last week.
See the Autodesk Desktop Connector 16.4.0.2062 News post.

If you must sort out and clean up reference issues in your Civil 3D Projects, an install of the Autodesk Desktop Connector gets you the Reference Explorer tool.
The Reference Explorer Tool is worth this silliness especially in our older and more complex projects.
See the Reference Explorer and Tools in Civil 3D video and post.
