This second week of September is burned into our American consciousness for good reasons. It is impossible to fail to recognize that this year is the 25th anniversary of 9-11. If like me, you were alive back then the odds are you remember that day and where you were. You probably remember what you were doing.
Most of us watched the then inexplicable events on tv.
Today there are new buildings, memorials, and airport security lines aplenty to remind us all to never forget.
We should probably notice what exactly people chose to remember. It matters.
What Are You Watching?
No disrespect intended. 911 remains a mass-marketed, media event to this day. Here’s the super slow-motion instant replay of that. Remember this? Here’s so and so tripping at the curb. Etc. etc. etc.
The New York, New York media lays claim to the term Ground Zero. If you are from there, this makes sense?
If you were in a small business that year, 9-11 was a painful education about what happens when everyone everywhere around you stops almost everything to reassess life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Perhaps it was the pursuit of vengeance?
We might ask, “Is that noble?”
Chicken Soup for the Soul
The contemplation of these important things in life is good for the soul.
A full production stop across most of a city, a state, or a nation can also be bad for small business cash flow. By the grace of God, we survived and staff somehow got paid.
9-11 made us leaner and meaner. Really.
Sadly, it also appears that a goodly number of savvy political operators remembered this rather significant lesson about humanity all too well when the COVID virus came around a few years later. Just sayin’ that evil things come back around in mighty weird ways.
It’s not so funny, how political folks and bureaucrats always manage pick themselves as the essential workers and name the taxpayers that pay for everything as unnecessary and somehow undeserving.
Someone once said,
“A republic is in serious trouble when we can no longer tar and feather or lynch the corrupt politicians we once elected.”
That’s well worth remembering in this election season.
Speaking of the Non-Responders…
Funny, how their forms, procedures, and requirements are often become more important than anyone else getting any work accomplished at all. This governmental attention to spurious detail is especially true in any emergency they perhaps helped to create.
We can now recall that neither Newsome or Bass can play the violin quite as well as the once great Emperor Nero.
We trust you get the picture.
We Must Remember To Do… Something
The bad guys who made 9-11 happen were with us long before that day. Never forget. They have many centuries of practice at the arts of slaughter and mayhem. Ages ago they declared us to their mortal enemy, the child of Satan, and worthy of nothing less than death.
Your death is literally a matter of religious conviction for them.
Dare we say, "A sacrament?"
Suffer not the fools who believe that they don’t mean what they say.
We have to ask,
How do mass murderers become the misunderstood?
Funny how the media continue to print the curses of these enemies and give their threats attention to this very day.
They cannot even stop themselves for yet another 9-11.
For the media folk it’s now a social media world.
They know…
To live by the click is to die by the click.
A much more pertinent question remains…
Do we recall the click of the chambered round?
The creak of the arrow on the bow?
The hiss of the drawn sword?
The crash of the spear on shield?
Hoorah.
The point remains…They do.
This second week of September please remember…
Honor most those who serve at the point of the spear.
It has always been a bloody, thankless job that may require you are buried far from home.
