All this rigmarole in Civil 3D. It does work. The problem is just a AutoCAD block definition replacement folks.
All you need is an external drawing version of the old LDT "POINT" block and use -Insert with *pathtofile\Point.dwg for the named ACAD block in the drawing. Note the vital * character. Now the blocks are Softdesk blocks and off you go.
