Divided Highways and Marked Points in Civil 3D
11/13/2025
Paul Storm, a Micrographics Solutions tech, delivers a webinar on how to produce a Divided Highway with Superelevation in Civil 3D with stock subassemblies and Corridor tools.
This video reviews: the Assembly construction basics; the essentials of targeting required for the Corridor; and the basics of how the superelevation works.

Paul attempts and mostly succeeds in addressing one of the more confusing highway design problems that we can address with Civil 3D.
What they don't tell you.
Divided Highway Assemblies require that there are two seperate Groups in the Assembly - a Left and a Right.
We cannot just mirror over the Crowned Roads subsassemblies as shown in the webinar.
We also have to select the correct type of Superelevation and parameters to apply to the Corridor Baseline in the Superelevation Wizard.
The use of Marked Points subassemblies requires that the Marked Point be in the first Group of the Assembly for the Linked to subassemblies to function correctly.
Here's a link to the next video in the series that fixes the superelevation issues discovered in the webinar.

This example from a Jump Kit Sandbox Project dataset and the Templates Only Example Corridors drawing employs slope controlled Offset Profiles but any other design control can be employed for the targeting.
